My Uncle Benjamin

Benjamin is head over heels in love with Manette, the innkeeper's lovely daughter, but she won't marry the young doctor until she sees the marriage contract, and marriage isn't in Benjamin's nature. He also refuses to marry Arabelle, the daughter of elderly Dr. Minxit, despite his sister Bettine's best attempts. Benjamin accepts the girl's invitation to meet her. His sister, however, discovers him in the inn that evening, along with Manette, who has been arrested by her father. As a result, she chooses to accompany Benjamin herself. The trip, however, is called off due to an incident with the fat Marquis. A humiliating practical joke is played on Benjamin by the Marquis. Benjamin is hell-bent on avenging himself. He succeeds thanks to the attractive Vicomte Hector de Pont-Cassé, who also assists Manette with her father's troubles. However, the Marquis has taken Benjamin into custody...
